Dear Parent

Parent Involvement - Section IX

Parent involvement is important during any student's learning process.  However, with elearning, or online education, parent involvement is more important, and can also be a learning experience for parents.

During the school year, the parents need to make sure that their ParentVue account is up and running.  If you do not have a ParentVue account, please be sure to talk with the office staff to get your account working.

ParentVue is a way to see your student's grades while he or she is in school.  Every student who is in the Sierra Vista Public School District has their grades go through an online gradebook system that allows both the students and the parents to keep track of all grades for all classes.  It is a unique system in which is kept up to date by the teacher of the class, and the student (in their StudentVue account) or parents can access online at any time.  By having the ability to access at anytime, the student and/or parent can see scores on various assignments as well as what the student might be missing in class.

Parents can also email the teacher at anytime if they have questions.  Email is the best option to reach the teacher as she has access to email throughout the day, but does not have access to calls.

I am available thorughout the week, and will try to answer emails with 24-36 hours.  I have "office hours" on Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm.  Please feel free to contact me and we can set up a meeting if you would like to discuss, in person, your student, his/her work and/or behavior in my class.

I also keep an up-to-date TeacherWeb page that can be accessed at any time.  On this page, I will post the weekly schedule, and attach any slide presentations or worksheets as they have been created by me.  This will also be a great resource for the students in case they were not in class.  The TeacherWeb page will also have information on the online text book, and any projects that we may be working on in class.

I will occasionally send out mass emails when I have assigned a project, or when I need to communicate to all of my students and their families at one time.  Please make sure to have your correct email address on file with the office so that you do not miss out on these emails.

I look forward to teaching your child this coming year.  I will also look forward to being a partner with you in your student's success.  When parents are involved, students are more engaged in learning.  I look forward to hearing what you learn along side your student this coming year.

Regards,
Mrs. Fogelson
